We passed a historic Data Resolution!

We passed and implemented a historic Data Resolution! Together with OUSD’s Office of Equity, AYPAL recently implemented a Disaggregated Data Resolution originally passed in 2016, expanding the scope of the resolution to apply to ALL students! This is the first resolution of its kind to disaggregate data for Asian Pacific Islander, Latinx, and African immigrant students! There is also an increase of categories students can identify as when they enroll, eliminating situations where they previously had to mark themselves as “Other”. Check out this student-produced video from KDOL for more info! Shouts out to former Youth Campaign Organizer Jamie for being a part of the interviews! We hope this video offers an example of what other school districts and cities everywhere can do to increase the visibility of underrepresented students and communities. We hope this offers insight as to why we need ethnic studies. No hxstory, no self; KNOW hxstory, KNOW self! #WeHere
